 I know that there are many pieces of software that will re-size images.  Sometimes I need to do entire batches of about 100 photos, which are very large. 
This is sometimes very time consuming to re-size.  I found a free piece of software called Fotosizer.    It is really quick and easy to use!! 
I really love the preset sizes where you can change the size to a preset photo size.
