Tui and Parque Vocacional Eden
So day one of our holiday and we are very excited as you can imagine.
Everything ran smoothly until we arrived in Tenerife Airport. We arrived at the airport and after going through customs and security, we climbed on our number 47 bus which was actually at number 37. Fortunately we asked and the friendly Tui representatives told us where to go before climbing on the wrong bus.
A young lady came onto the bus who was professiant in English, Spanish and German. Her exact words were "This bus will stop at hotel one in 40 minutes and then after 20 minutes will arrive at hotel number 2." Our bus filled quickly and we left slightly before 16:00.
Sure enough after 50 minutes we arrived at the first hotel, expecting to be at our hotel in the next 20 to 30 minutes.
Unfortunately, the second hotel was more than an hour and a half away. People on the bus were starting to get annoyed and one person even phoned Tui and got a refund as it was not what Tui had promised. We were the last hotel and the bus arrived at 18:20. A total trip of just under 2 and a half hours.
Upon arriving at the hotel, the Tui representative was on the phone leaving the hotel. I said hello to her and she said we could see her tomorrow between 5 and 6. Obviously we were too late and she had to leave.
The actual booking in was quick and easy and the staff were great.
When we arrived in our rooms, we had 3 rooms for the family, I was impressed with the size of the rooms. They really have great space. Our room is a little tired and could do with a little bit of a make over. One of the other rooms has been recently redone and it does look good.
As we arrived so late, we dropped our bags and went to supper. There was a variety of food, but unfortunately much of it was overdone. When I went to the cooked section, I waited over 5 minutes for a person to come and serve me, as we could not serve ourselves at this section.
After dinner, feeling icky as we had been on transport the whole day, we had a shower, a really good sized shower. When I looked around the bathroom, I could see that tiles had been changed, but they were not the same tiles as the originals and looks out of place.
We sat down on the lounge area and went through the Eden booklet. It was comprehensive and had all the information we needed.
Our room is on the second floor above the reception area. Neither my wife or myself smoke, but guests come out and smoke outside the front reception. The smell of cigarettes as you can imagine is overpowering and not pleasant.
Currently, while writing this, it is now 21:20. I can hear the lady singing in the bar, which is really great entertainment for the people sitting in the bar. Unfortunately, it sounds like she is in my room.
My wife, exhausted after a long day has already gone to bed. I have pulled out the sleeper couch and the linen looks unwashed and it appears as though there are urine stains on the linen.
Well this is the end of day.
We plan to look around the hotel and go into town with the shuttle bus they offer.
Still awake, it is now 22:46, people are still checking in and I can hear them dragging their cases into reception and of course talking at the top of their voices.
I hope tomorrow is better.
