I have been using VLC for a number of years and I really think that it is 

The great thing about it is it plays virtually anything...

DVDs, Video CDs, MP4, MOV, MPEG, OGG, Real, FLAV, ASF/WMV/WMA, AVI files – 

among others – directly from your Windows device. 

It also has most of the codex built straight into this, so no downloading of anything.

Teacher Tube

Teacher Tube is a free community for sharing videos and other content

for teachers and students.  One of the great things about this site is that 

most of the videos have been uploaded by teachers for teachers.

All the videos and documents are searchable so it does make your life

easier to find the appropriate videos.

Definitely worth using when looking for content to show your studetns!

Freemake Video Converter

Freemake Video Converter

This is really a great piece of software.

I use this program all the time, especially when I have downloaded

something or taken it off a camera or video camera.

Load the file and then click to which format you would like to export it.

Very easy to use and it can convert to most formats.

I also like the fact that you can download it offline and use it, as it is not using

bandwidth to convert!!

Brilliant!!

VideoLan Player VLC

This is a great video player that seems to be able to play just about any video format.

It has all the codecs already built in and is just fantastic.

I always find that you need various different video players to be able to watch

the different formats.

This one plays them all!!

HIV Busters

HIV Busters

This is something I have been working on with my learners.

My Grade 7 classes have created various videos with their own devices

all about different aspects of HIV and Aids.

We have uploaded the project and you can use this as a resource or you 

can do this as a project with your own class.

This is really awesome.

Someone has taken  Pharrell Williams Happy music and created their 

own local music video all about Cape Town and being Happy.

Brilliant!!

Animoto is a FREE web tool that allows users to create 

30 second videos that incorporate:

images

short video clips

text

music

Users may provide all content or utilize images, videos, 

and music provided on the website. Completed videos 

may be viewed online or downloaded and viewed offline. 

Animoto for Education

Teachers may apply for a Free PLUS account that allows 

users to create videos up to 20 minutes in length. With an 

education account, teachers can monitor student work and 

limit access to the videos produced. After registering, 

teachers receive a code to share with up to 50 students. 

It took me about 30 minutes.The access code will expire 

after 6 months and you will need to request a new code 

within 30 days of expiration. The PLUS account is usually

$60 per year for each non-education user.

BRILLIANT!!!!!

This is an absolute must for science teachers.

It is a an periodic table that has videos for every element.

\You can click on any element and then watch a 5 minute video clip on the element.

There is also a section on other videos that goes into the science of other things.

Very cool!!

Math Live is a really great website for both learners, as well as teachers.

There are numerous animated stories that teach mathematics lessons. 

There are over 20 different lessons that can be viewed.  

The lessons are divided into four categories; 

Number, Patterns and Relations, Shape and Space, Statistics and Probability. 

Each video also has a page for learners, parents and teachers that they can 

use while watching the video.
